Marissa: I'm Not Surprised Juliet Denigrates Me
Marissa Hermer defends her love of Biritsh culture and spills on her sitdown with Caroline Fleming - oh, and that bath!
Bravotv.com: What do you think about the ladies’ comments implying you trying too hard to be posh and a Brit?
Marissa Hermer: I’m not surprised to hear that Juliet denigrates me…but the fact of the matter is that I’ve lived in London for 10 years - I fell in love in London, married a British man, have British children, opened a business here, and now have dual-citizenship - so though I still have my American citizenship, I also have my British citizenship, and therefore actually AM British. At this point in my life, I’m very happy to adapt to my surroundings - and actually it is a wonderful adventure. Juliet criticizes me for embracing British culture but I actually believe that loving where you are living - wherever that is - and enjoying your life as it is - can only be a positive thing. It works for me.
Bravotv.com: So the bath moment with Julie - do you usually take baths with your girlfriends?
MH: I love taking baths with my girlfriends - I know, maybe it sounds crazy, but its true. It is basically like a jacuzzi (when there isn’t a jacuzzi). I went to college in Vermont and when it was FREEZING, my roommates and I would all jump in the bathtub together to warm up, have some bubbly, and gossip before we went out at night. I’m now learning that it isn’t totally normal…but I don’t care, it’s fun!
Bravotv.com: What were you thinking when Julie told you Caroline Fleming was still upset ?
MH: I was surprised as Caroline Fleming had previously accepted my apology on a couple of occasions. I had called Caroline immediately after bowling to sincerely apologise to her and also I went over to her house prior to the shooting weekend, where we talked and she said everything was fine with us. So when Julie told me in the bath that she was 'going to let me have it,' and was clearly still upset, I was surprised.
Bravotv.com: What do you think of your talk with Caroline?
MH: Caroline Fleming relayed to Caroline Stanbury that our talk was ‘full of emotion’ - I couldn’t have said it better myself. I care a lot about Caroline Fleming and her family and I felt terrible that I had offended her and was thankful to hear that she wanted to move on. Since then, we have moved on and are now great friends and allies.
