Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch Gets a $70 Million Price Chop: See the Property
Michael Jackson's Santa Barbara home, Neverland Ranch, comes with stunning mountain vistas — and its share of controversy.
Michael Jackson’s former home Neverland Ranch just received a whopper of a price cut: 70 percent from the original asking price. The property, renamed Sycamore Valley Ranch after extensive renovations, is now on the market for $31 million.
The sprawling 2,700-acre spread was first listed for $100 million in 2015, and it has had a succession of price cuts since. This recent one is by far the most dramatic for the residence, and is likely related to the ongoing fallout over the Leaving Neverland documentary, in which two men accuse Jackson of molesting them as children.
The extravagant French-chateau style compound is located in Los Olivos, California, in Santa Barbara wine country. The property includes a main residence with six bedrooms and eight bathrooms as well as two guesthouses. There is also a four-acre lake, a 50-seat movie theater, a tennis court, a lagoon-style pool, a dance studio, barns, and separate facilities for the staff.
Neverland Ranch also once held amusement park rides, which were removed by the present owners, Colony Capital and the Jackson estate. Colony became part owners after Jackson defaulted on the original loan in 2008.
Take a tour of the expansive property below.
The French-Normandy-style property was developed in 1982, and Jackson purchased it in 1988 for a number that's not certain: some say $19.2 million, others indicate it's closer to $30 million. The famed Neverland floral clock remains, as does the firehouse, train station, and tracks. However, the train itself has been sold off.
Sitting on 2,700 acres in the hills outside of Santa Barbara, the isolated property includes a waterfall as well as endless mountain and pasture vistas.
A four-acre lake is wedged between elaborate gardens that at one time included Jackson’s amusement park and petting zoo.
The 12,600-square-feet main house comes with six bedrooms and eight bathrooms. There are three guesthouses on the property as well.
Adjacent to the lagoon-style pool is a pool house and an outdoor entertainment area equipped with a kitchen.
The property also includes a tennis court, a movie theater with a stage, barns, animal shelter facilities, corrals, and a workshop.
