Carson Kressley and Thom Filicia Give a Thumb's Up to These Housewives' Homes
Mirror, mirror on the wall, who do the Get a Room with Carson and Thom designers think has the best taste of them all?
Just what we’ve always longed for: to have two leading design experts come to our house and size up our living space (well, as long as we’ve had some time to tidy up... and definitely not on a Saturday after the kids have turned it upside down). Why? Well, because sometimes decor choices need a little validation and encouragement! We need a person, friend, or champion to tell us that, yes, you can definitely pair that chartreuse sofa with banana leaf wallpaper — and why not throw in a brass floor lamp?!
Well, that’s just what happened when Carson Kressley and Thom Filicia, stars of the new hit show Get a Room with Carson & Thom, stopped by Bravo to give the lairs of the Housewives a solid once-over. The good news: They love it all!
Let’s start with The Real Housewives of New York City’s Dorinda Medley and her hideaway in the Berkshires, which Carson finds “very warm, traditional” and totally his jam. “This room is wrapped in teal lacquer, teal upholstery, and then hints of kind of rose or blush to make it light.” Thom adds that the color palette is spot on — “it feels very timely.” Score one for Dorinda.
Next we have a look at The Real Housewives of New Jersey cast member Margaret Josephs' living room. Thom and Carson are drawn to its fun elements, including a zebra-patterned rug and striped lampshade. “I like that she went for a bold colored sofa,” notes Thom.
Our dynamic design duo is in complete agreement in regards to Southern Charm’s Patricia Altshul’s home, designed by the legendary Prince of Chintz himself, Mario Buatta. “This is utter perfection!” exclaims Carson. “Gorgeous, wow,” adds Thom. “It’s beautifully done, and they’re great pieces and in very good taste.”
Lastly, we close out with a looksee at the The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' own Lisa Vanderpump and her posh pile in exclusive LA. “Fabulous!” declares Carson. “That is a classic Beverly Hills drama look.” Thom adds, “It has great formality. It feels dramatic, it feels rich.”
