Jeff Lewis' Daughter Monroe Was So Excited Over One Unlikely Easter Basket Item
With several sweet treats to choose from, the Flipping Out designer's daughter only had eyes for one gummy snack.
Jeff Lewis' 3-year-old daughter, Monroe, opened their door on Sunday, April 12, to a surprise Easter basket. However, despite the chocolate, Skittles, Fun Dip, and more, the little girl only had eyes for one item.
"Fruit Snacks!" Monroe exclaimed as she ran to show the Flipping Out designer the packs that were placed in front of the bow-topped basket, along with a chocolate bunny.
Once Monroe took a look at the foods beyond the gummy snacks, she excitedly picked up the basket to bring it inside.
Seeing Monroe excited over the fruit snack packs was likely a welcome change for Jeff, who recently opened up about his struggle to get his daughter to expand her palate. On his Jeff Lewis Live podcast's March 30 episode, Jeff explained that Monroe only wants to eat "eggies," quesadillas, and meatballs. However, amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, Jeff has offered Monroe some incentive to try new foods.
"Now we're in a situation where I can't always give her one of three things that she wants to eat," he explained on the podcast, while admitting that he is using Monroe's love of Disney's Frozen to his advantage in getting her to try new foods. "She's got an Elsa doll. . .She really wants Anna. We bought Anna. Anna is sitting on the [kitchen] island. It's kind of mean. It's sitting in a box staring at her every day," he said. "I said, 'If you try five foods, you will get Anna, but you have to try five foods."
While he said at the time he was successful in getting Monroe to eat four out of the target five new foods, he noted: "She never would have tried this if I wasn't bribing her with Anna."
