Heart of the Matter
Kroy talks about the importance of wedding vows.
KJ, my little man and twin, was such a sweetheart in the beginning leaning in and hugging and kissing Kim when she was really starting to feel the stress and pressure! I know he has me covered as the man of the house when I have to be away.
I was really bummed when I wasn't able to make the meeting with Kim and her Uncle John, but I know from talking with Kim that he has and will always have her back, and it was a great opportunity for them to find some common ground with Kim's mom. As you all know, the man walking the bride down the aisle is a VERY significant person, and the relationship that Kim and her uncle have has been through many ups and downs throughout the years due to his health, so her choice to have him along with her father walk her down the aisle is just so great.
On the other hand, I am very thankful that I was working during the selection of the porta-potties. Not a very exciting part of the process of planning our wedding, but Kim's friend Derek J did a great job of helping her out.
Having been a part of and seeing many weddings in my time, I came to realize that the vows are the most significant part. It is your promise and verbal commitment to the person you will spend the rest of your life with. Every other part of a wedding is for you and your guests to have a great time, so naturally for me I could see no other way than writing those vows in my own words. As you could see, Kim was unsure about writing her owns vows. She was so emotional at the thought of standing up there and having to do it. But if Kim had decided not to write her own vows, it wouldn't have mattered to me, because I know in my heart how she feels. But you will see how that turns out.
