The CMT Music Awards went down in Nashville last night, bringing blazing performances and a red carpet filled with sparkles, lace, and that awards show prerequisite: leg slits. But, Brandi Cyrus brought the daring look that has us plotting a copycat move—if we can pull it off.

The Cyrus vs. Cyrus: Design and Conquer daughter proudly admits that she marches to the beat of her own drum when it comes to style. And she put her moxie on full display last night, with an unusual red-carpet look. Instead of wearing a gown, Brandi opted for separates. The 30-year-old star paired a sparkling black bra top with an asymmetrical, olive-green skirt with a red heart patch. She carried a sparkling clutch, and left her sun-kissed locks long and loose and her makeup dewy and light. Lucky Brandi gets her good skin from her mama, as the two recently told The Lookbook in the video above.

Brandi's pop Billy Ray Cyrus, who accompanied his daughter to the event, looked every bit the rockstar. The singer wore dark jeans, a black-leather jacket, and just the right amount of scruff. Sunglasses (at night!), layered necklaces, and tatted up arms added to his edgy-dad-not-a-regular-dad vibe.
