Yolanda Foster's Health Crisis: My Husband Is a Blessing

The Beverly Hills Housewife shares an update on her struggle with Lyme disease.

By Hilary Hughes

Lyme disease has been a painful constant in Yolanda Foster's since announcing her diagnosis in December 2012, and the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star has recently opened up about her struggles with the disease on the recent season. It turns out that Yolanda's had a secret weapon in her battle—and that secret weapon is none other than her husband, David Foster.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills on Bravo Tuesday, November 19 at 8/7c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo App.

Yolanda stopped by daytime medical chat program The Doctors to discuss how she's dealt with Lyme disease, and she shared how David played a huge role in her ongoing recovery.

"The symptoms started four months before I married my husband, David Foster," says Yolanda. "I started having a hard time multitasking, reading information...I didn't remember how to write the alphabet...One night, I woke up and I said to my husband, 'I feel like I almost passed to the other side.' Just talking about it still gives me goose bumps."

After undergoing tons of tests and getting prescribed everything from antidepressants to Ritalin and Adderal, Yolanda's doctors finally diagnosed her with chronic neurological Lyme disease after David sought out a doctor in Belgium who eventually figured out what was wrong.

"Thank God for my husband. I just kept telling him, 'Babe, something is in my brain. I'm sick in my head. Keep searching.' He finally found a professor in Belgium."

Yolanda is on a strict diet, a vitamin program and undergoing transcranial magnetic stimulation to "regenerate the damage that the Lyme has done to [her] brain." Recently, she and David have put their luxe Malibu manse on the market so that they can focus on her recovery and conquering this terrible disease. She's got a long way to go, but with RHOBH as her platform to raise awareness for Lyme disease and David by her side, it sounds like she's doing so much better than when she was initially diagnosed.

"Just seeing his picture makes me emotional!" she says. "He's been extraordinary. You say when you get married, you stand by each other, and when it hits you...He's the guy that gets my antibiotics four times a day; he's the guy that did it, and he's the guy that stood by me, every night, 24 hours a day. And I'm blessed."

We're thrilled that Yolanda's making headway in her battle against Lyme disease. How do you feel about Yolanda's appearance on The Doctors? Let us know in the comments.
