Phaedra Parks Announces 'Save Our Sons' Event
The 'RHOA' mom will lead an empowerment rally in Atlanta.
Phaedra Parks has found a way to give back. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star has organized the "Save Our Sons" Event, set to take place this weekend in Atlanta.
The event aims to empower young men in the community and serves to, according to a statement, "highlight the importance of supporting and encouraging African-American boys and men, offer resources to African-American males, celebrate the work of organizations engaged in programs that support the cause and inspire and motivate members of the community."
The rally and conference will take place on Saturday and in addition to panel discussions with fellow TV personalities including Judge Mathis, will also include performances and a resource fair.
"African-American boys and men, particularly ones who have grown up fatherless and without positive male role models, are often in need of guidance, information and resources to be successful in life," the mission statement on the press release notes. "It is important for individuals, businesses and local organizations to support the needs of African-American males who want to better their lives and become productive and positive members of their communities."

Empowering young men is a cause close to Phaedra. She's a mother to two sons, Ayden and Dylan. In October she announced she has plans divorce her husband Apollo Nida after he checked himself into prison for an 8-year sentence for fraud back in September.
"It is extremely hard," she told Ellen DeGeneres about her children in the wake of their father's prison sentence. "My heart aches for my two sons because they are the heart and soul of who I am. That's the best thing we ever did together. We have these great kids. I never wanted to do anything to diminish his character in public. But we've had some times where he's done things that weren't so coolÖ weren't so nice."
