Melissa Gorga: Joe and I Have A Real Marriage
The RHONJ star opens up about last night's argument with her husband.
The Gorgas had a heated moment on last night's episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey when Joe reprimanded his wife for antagonizing Teresa Giudice on Twitter. It's just the latest chapter in the ongoing saga between the estranged family members. But might we be seeing fractures in the couple's marriage now, too?
Not quite. In her latest blog post, Melissa Gorga pulls back the curtain on their marriage and says their union isn't that unusual. "Joe and I have a real marriage," she writes. "We argue. We struggle. We don't put on an act like we're happy and laughing all the time. That's not who we are, or what we want to represent."
Their secret to success? "Mutual respect, trust, and affection," says Melissa, who is releasing a book Love Italian Style about her marriage in September.
The couple's most dramatic exchange happened when Joe yelled at his wife, "My parents look at you like you're the devil." Melissa says he made that claim beacuse he believed Teresa was providing them with a "twisted vision of our marriage." But now, Melissa says they've righted any wrongs with the elder Gorgas. "After the fight with Teresa at Gia's party and Joe's argument with Teresa at the gym, we've had them over for dinner since and made sure they're not upset."
Melissa also says that last night's argument encapsulates their union. "That's our marriage in a nutshell," she says. And she admits that she may have been wrong to antagonize Teresa. "Joe told me I was wrong to do it, and I agreed with my husband," she writes. "I shouldn't stoop to her level. It only gives her something to complain about."
