Kathy Wakile: "I'm Taking a Stand Against Bullying"

The RHONJ lady helps the kids.

By Lauren Metz

With two teenagers living under her roof, The Real Housewives of New Jersey's Kathy Wakile is well-aware of what's happening in schools and the serious issues youth today face. "Thirteen million kids will be bullied in the U.S. this year," she states in a PSA supporting The Bully Project. "Three million students are absent each month because they feel unsafe at school."

So how can you bring about a positive impact on the nation's bullying epidemic? "Over 50 percent of the time when a bystander stands up to bullying, the bullying stops within 10 seconds," our level-headed 'Wife preaches. Now parents, this part's for you. "Model positive behavior for your kids by treating others with respect and speaking up when you see bullying behavior."

Victoria and Joseph's mama then encourages all children and teens to speak up in a bullying situation if they feel safe. "Always tell an adult," Kath notes and also advises showing compassion. "Let the person being bullied know that you care. Walk with him down the hall, or sit with her at lunch. It could only take one friend to turn someone’s day around."

We'll see if she uses those same tactics on her fellow 'Wives, when Season 4 starts this Sunday at 10/9C.
