Curtis Stone Is Opening a New Restaurant
All the details on his adventurous establishment, featuring chefs from El Bulli and Joel Robuchon.
It looks like Lisa Vanderpump isn't going to be the only Bravoleb running a fab food destination in Los Angeles: Curtis Stone is set to open his own restaurant in Beverly Hills.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Top Chef Masters host will open a 25-seat restaurant on February 1 called Maude, named for his grandmother. The venture will specialize in daring dishes.
Curtis has got the talent to back up his ambitions, too. He’s tapped chefs who have worked at renowned establishments like El Bulli and Joel Robuchon, he says.
What’s on the menu? Maude will feature $75 prix fixe menus that spotlight one particular ingredient, which will change on a monthly basis. Citrus, which Curtis is planning on preparing in every conceivable way, is up first: "Frying it, poaching it, steaming it, skinning it, zesting it—everything." Sounds like a fresh start for sure!
Maude's an edgier eatery, too: Stone is going for a vibe that's not too typical for Beverly Hills, and he set up shop far away from Wilshire Boulevard for that reason. "I wouldn't open something north of Wilshire—it feels too touristy. What we're doing here could be part of what's going on [in downtown L.A.]," he tells The Hollywood Reporter.
This news comes hot on the heels of Tom Colicchio’s latest venture: he's preparing to open a steak house in Philadelphia.
What do you think of Curtis' new endeavor? Does Maude sound like a restaurant you're dying to try? Let us know in the comments.
