Aviva Drescher: Running Is My 'Me Time'
The RHONY star talks about exercising with a prosthetic leg.
Aviva Drescher suffered a devastating accident as a child that forced her to get an amputated leg. But her handicap has never kept her from accomplishing her fitness goals. And the Real Housewives of New York City is opening up about her passion for cardio as the cover girl for the new Women's Running magazine (via In Touch Weekly).
"Until the age of 26, I couldn’t really run much because I had an awkward amputation at the ankle,” she says. “I had another amputation at the knee and then I was able to run again, using the right prosthesis.”
These days, the mother of four says going for a jog helps her clear her head. “Running is a really great time just for myself to get away from it all, once in a while—and plus, you always feel great after a good run!” she said. "I love running because it's always a half an hour of 'me time.' When I’m running, there’s no working, no filming and no cameras. Although a lot of it is fun, filming can be such a chore."
Aviva also talked about the upcoming season of RHONY. “I feel like this season is going to be major," she said. "This year, there is already history between people, so we were already likely to get more angry and contentious with each other—fast! It’s very dramatic. I can guarantee an amazing season."
