A Beyoncé and Jay Z-Themed Restaurant Is Here, and We Can't Wait to Book our Tickets
It's in Australia, and we're dying to try the hot sauce.
Jay Z and Beyoncé are the closest things that we in the United States have to a royal family. We stalk their pregnancies. Jay Z frequently references crowns and thrones. Beyoncé’s nickname is literally “Queen.”
So it should come as no surprise that fans of the duo regularly find over-the-top ways to honor the power couple. The most recent form? A themed restaurant dedicated to, and influenced by, Hov and Bey.
The Carter, which opened earlier this year in Sydney, is a restaurant and bar decorated and designed with enough style and panache to do the duo justice. The main level of the restaurant features art-deco design work, gold scaffolding, and high ceilings. As Venue Manager Chady Khouzame tells The Feast, inspiration for the interior comes from “New York’s architecture, Melbourne’s nightlife, and Jay Z, Beyoncé, and Kanye West, who are cultural icons, entrepreneurs, and creative geniuses.”
The venue includes multiple levels with different atmospheres and décor (a lower lounge-style level, for example, includes large murals of the King and Queen alongside other notable hip-hop influencers) but on every floor a mix of hip-hop and old school R&B music keeps guests in the proper headspace.
And when it comes to the food, the menu at The Carter stays true to the theme of the restaurant, offering a mix of dishes and cocktails named after notable hip-hop and R&B icons. Guests can choose from dishes like the NAS Sticky Lamb Ribs, Snoop Foot Long Hot Dog, or Khouzame’s personal favorite, “the Carter Chicken Wings with Beyoncé’s hot sauce.” If you’re looking for a house cocktail to pair with your dish consider the “Obama Out” cognac, the spiced rum Snoop Lion, or The Carter’s most popular cocktail, the vodka “Kimye.”
All in all, Khouzame and staff seem to have left no detail overlooked, pouring what is clearly a lot of time and affection into making The Carter a proper tribute to Jay and Bey’s storied careers.
Consider us crazy in love.
