An Introspective Week

With the newlyweds on their honeymoon, Max shares what was going on back home in the city.

While Jason and Bethenny soaked up the sun in the Caribbean, Julie and I were up in the city freezing our asses off. With the wedding shenanigans finally over, it was a nice, slow week in the office to decompress. It also gave me and Julie some time to get to know eachother on a more personal level. We only spend time together in the office and rarely get a chance to speak about non-work topics. We went for a drink one afternoon after finishing up some light office work. She's great! She really loves Bethenny. She spoke all about the ups and downs and the good times and the bad she's had working with Bethenny. And boy there were a lot! But wherever Julie goes, from here on out, it's obvious she's learned irreplaceable life skills from working for her.

Who knows where Shawn was at this point in time, but I would have loved to see what he was doing the week after the wedding. After four weeks of Bethenny constantly up his ass, I wouldn't be surprised if he was cuddled away in a dark hole crying, I wouldn't be surprised if he went to Vegas and went bonkers, and I wouldn't be surprised if he checked himself into a mental institution. But just as I said about Julie, I'm sure Shawn learned a lot about himself after dealing with and delivering for Bridezilla.

As for me, I guess I'm still waiting for my opportunity to prove my worth to Bethenny. I run around a lot and pick up her various personal items (which I know is important), but I'm looking for something to happen that makes Bethenny think, "Wow, this kid is irreplaceable." Maybe my role as her assistant doesn’t involve me wowing her. I think it is more about being consistent. Calling the cars on time, being prompt with my errand running, and being a dependable go-to guy is what the job entails. I'm also learning that my role is elastic and can constantly change. Sometimes all Bethenny needs me to do is make her laugh, too! I'm a person who is rarely satisfied with my personal performance, whether it was on the football field, with my friendships, or as Bethenny's assistant. I'm constantly looking for ways to improve how I operate, and my approach is that I can always get better.

I hope we enjoyed our light week, because it's crunch time once again and the baby is ready to say hello to the world!
