Below Deck Med's Captain Sandy Reveals What She Keeps in Her Fridge
Below Deck Mediterranean boss Sandy Yawn doesn't share a home with girlfriend Leah Shafer in Denver — so her fridge is completely her own.
Below Deck Mediterranean's Captain Sandy Yawn doesn't exactly share many diet similarities with some her yacht charter guests' pickiest preferences: She eats pretty healthy, including sustainable fish (although her stint as a vegan didn't exactly pan out). And she's happy to accommodate when eating out in Denver with her new love, the gospel singer Leah Shafer who is gluten intolerant — and has a favorite restaurant that the pair returns to again and again.
Though Sandy moved to Denver for her relationship, she and Leah do not cohabitate at this stage. So when she's in her own home, what exactly is Sandy grabbing when she raids her fridge? The Below Deck Med boss told The Feast all about that when she sat down with us recently at Bravo HQ in Los Angeles.
In Sandy's fridge, you'll find, "kombucha tea; fresh-squeezed orange juice; eggs, spinach, and tomatoes — because I like omelettes — and cereal,” she said, “Obviously I have like five boxes of cereal! Mini Wheats, Lucky Charms, Frosted Flakes, and Froot Loops...”
She calls her cereal stock, "Sandy's snacks." And she adds, "My fridge now has one-percent milk," to go along with that cereal. "I’m tryin to get off the milk — I’m trying to go over to the almond milker the coconut milk, but I find it very difficult."
When it comes to her cravings, Sandy says she's more likely to hit a candy aisle than fast-food drive-through. "I'm more about [sweets cravings] than I am a savory [person]," she told us.
Think "peanut M&Ms, Almond Joy, Snickers bars, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups — I love candy," Sandy said. "I like Hi-C, the apple ones."
Hmmm, and now we're hungry. Just not for pre-fab taco shells.... and certainly not for steak.
