How Captain Sandy Yawn Got Into Yachting

Below Deck Mediterranean's fearless leader Captain Sandy Yawn is definitely fierce. She's in an elite club as one of the few female yacht captains who drive vessels over 50 meters. So no wonder she absolutely conquers SoulCycle sessions.

"I love SoulCycle. It’s a soulful experience," Sandy told The Lookbook, explaining that it's her workout of choice. That wasn't always the case, until she met The Doctors' Dr. Jennifer Berman

"Hey, I can go to the gym and work out. I hated spinning until I went to SoulCycle and I have Jennifer Berman to thank for that," she says. "That’s one great thing that came out of my friendship with her is that she turned me onto SoulCycle. And I live for it."

Besides burning a boatload of calories in class, Sandy finds that the workout is good for her sanity too. "They have this gift of how they talk to you: Your 45 minutes is YOUR 45 minutes. Not to think about the workplace drama or what’s happening below deck…" Because unlike the Talisman, SoulCycle is a drama-free zone.

In case you're wondering what Sandy eats to stay in shape, she gave The Feast the rundown on what's in her fridge — and why you won't find her eating seafood.
