Here's What Below Deck Med's Captain Sandy Yawn Loves Most About Los Angeles, Her New Home
Below Deck Mediterranean's Captain Sandy Yawn shares restaurant recs for the "smart city with a great vibe."
Captain Sandy Yawn is known for her globe-trotting lifestyle on Below Deck Mediterranean, but she's calling Los Angeles home, after moving to the city in February. And she is absolutely in love with her new location.
"I love L.A.," she told Jet Set. "The people, first and foremost. Everyone seems to be happy. I was thinking about it the other day: It’s the weather. When you have people in cold-weather climates, they’re grumpy. They’re always indoors. It’s the vitamin D that’s in the sun [that enlivens people]. You walk outside and it’s that fresh, crisp air, and I love how conscious people are. They care about the environment. It’s a smart city with a great vibe!"
We couldn't agree more — but we still had to know whether L.A.'s most notorious quality-of-life feature, the unrelenting traffic, was getting to Sandy yet. "I did see that to go six miles was an hour and 38 minutes — that’s insane. [But] I’ve lived in Barcelona, in Italy — there’s traffic everywhere. L.A. is just another place that you have to learn when to commute if you’re stuck in commute hours. Listen to a great song or a book on tape."
As far as dining in town, Sandy's been out and about: "I'm new so everyone’s taking me to the restaurants to see people. So, Dan Tana's... and Craig's." (No surprise there — Craig's is Bravolebrities' absolute favorite place to dine in town after all!)
She's also loving vegan eateries such as Gracias Madre and Crossroads Kitchen, and she might even be inspired to make a diet change in her new home: "There's a lot of vegan here. I could become a vegan."
