This Is Why Kelly Dodd Wanted to Meet with Shane Simpson After The "Dork" Comments
The RHOC pal addresses her heated moment and subsequent apology to Emily Simpson's husband.
When Kelly Dodd came face-to-face with Shane Simpson at Eddie Judge's birthday party earlier this season The Real Housewives of Orange County, it may be the first time in The Real Housewives history that the term "dork" was used in an argument. And while Kelly reflected on the arguments and said, in the show clip above, that "it happened so fast; I literally need a court reporter to sit next to me," when she stopped by The Daily Dish HQ to chat about all things RHOC and beyond, she laughed off the moment.
"I'm bringing back the '90s!" she joked of shading Shane by calling him a "dork," among other things. She also once again reiterated that she really didn't know it was him when he interjected in her conversation with Steve Lodge at the party. "I did not know that was Emily's husband. They do show [us meeting,] but I wasn't paying attention. I think everybody in the world has gotten introduced to someone and then they forget who they are. I think everybody's done that. I think, I don't know. I have a million times."
However, Kelly didn't want to leave it at that so instead she met up with him again to try and clear the air in order to maintain friendships she's established with those in his inner circle. "I've really built a relationship with Shane's mother; I love Pary. She's so nice and sweet to me. And his sister's really cool and Emily [Simpson]'s really cool. I really like the whole family," she said. "You're gonna see [this] week I try to talk to him, apologizing to him because I want to foster and keep those relationships with his family. I try to be the bigger person and say 'sorry.'"
Whatever the future may hold for Kelly and Shane, the feisty OC pal did offer some insight into why she can be so quick-tempered sometimes. "Well I come from a big family. I have a ton of cousins and we used to fight a lot as children. So, I think I was like, in the way we do it, would be by cutting each other down or however that may be. I know this sounds bad — total dysfunctional childhood, I would say. So I'm quick with my tongue because I practiced my whole life. So when somebody comes at me, I can [give a] rebuttal really quick."
