Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian Taking New Security Measures with Their Precious Jewels
Hiring plain-clothes guards is among the precautions.
Given their own personal experiences having been robbed in the past, Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton are now each reportedly taking new precautions with their precious belongings.
Days after she became engaged to actor Chris Zylka, TMZ reports that the Paris has hired full-time security to keep an eye on her ring, reportedly worth $2 million.
The site reports that the couple now have security by their side at all times. The heiress/DJ reportedly already has full-time security at her home, but has since upped the ante to include plain-clothes guards to keep an eye on her dazzling ring. As you might recall, Paris was a victim of the Bling Ring posse several years back. Paris later recalled her anxiety in the wake of the crime, sharing in 2013: "I fear someone is coming up behind me or out of the crowd. Maybe someone I trust. I am out there and it doesn't take much."
As for Kim, well, she's keeping her priciest jewels out of her new Hidden Hills home altogether. In the wake of her terrifying 2016 robbery in Paris, the reality star has made the choice to store her jewels somewhere outside her home. “Ever since the Paris robbery, Kim has made many changes in her life. She is much more careful about being flashy," a source tells PEOPLE. “It’s a new year, with a new house and more changes. Kim loves her new house. She wants to create the safest, best house for the kids. Along with their security team, Kim and Kanye have made plans to keep intruders out. Their new property is huge and requires even more 24/7 security staff. To keep the house safer, Kim doesn’t want expensive possessions like jewelry at the house.”
Kim was robbed at gunpoint during Fashion Week back in October 2016, with the suspects walking away with $10 million worth of jewelry. And with a third baby on the way, via surrogate, with hubby, Kanye West, the L.A. mom is not taking any chances. "She doesn’t wear expensive jewelry every day, so it makes no sense to keep it at the house. Kim is trying to eliminate as many concerns as possible. After they bring the new baby home, Kim just wants to enjoy her family," the insider added.
