Kyle Richards Confirms American Woman Is Ending as Cast Reflects on "What a Great Experience" It Was
The RHOBH actress/mom, Alicia Silverstone, and Mena Suvari open up about the series.
It's a wrap for American Woman. The series, starring Alicia Silverstone and Mena Suvari, was not picked up for a second season following its recent Season 1 finale. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Kyle Richards, who executive produced the show loosely based on her mother Kathleen Richards' life and her own childhood in the '70s, confirmed the news on Twitter. She also posted a photo from the show on Instagram, writing, "Thank you so much for watching [American Woman] and for all your support. All of you have been so supportive and cheered me on and I am so appreciative[.] I’m so proud of the show we made and am so grateful for the talented team of people it took to create it. We put our hearts & souls into it." She also expressed hope for the future of the series: "So many of you have expressed your love for the show. Maybe we will find it a new home ..."
Mena also commented on the news on Twitter, recalling her time in the show: "Thank you, Loves, for all your support of our entire cast and crew on [the show]! It was such a wild and beautiful ride that I will forever be grateful for!!!"
As of press time, Alicia had not commented on the show ending, but prior to the finale weeks ago, she did gush about her co-stars and time on the show. She wrote on Instagram about Mena, as well as fellow co-star Jennifer Bartels, "My hilarious girls [Mena and Jennifer]. Loved working with you ladies!"
She also opened up about playing the lead role of Bonnie, based on Kyle's mom, writing, "I loved working on this show and being Bonnie! I’m so grateful for the adventure I went on with her, what a great experience."
Jennifer also reminisced about her time on the series following the news that it was not renewed.
She wrote, "If life is a ride, Hollywood is the ride with the seatbelts that have a questionable latch. I still choose the ride... [Kyle Richards] allowed us to play in her childhood while supporting us along the way.... [Alicia and Mena] you are talented delights and fierce queens. I pinch myself that I was given the opportunity to work with you both... To my fellow actors I got to play with, I love you. Seriously. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of you. And the fans for the love and sweet support as an artist. You made this girl’s 'cloud dreams' come true."
