Jermaine Sellers was born in Joliet, Illinois, where early on in his childhood his parents wanted him to become a successful vocalist. He was heavily involved in his choir at church, quickly realizing that music was his destiny. When he was 17, he went to London for a three-month tour where he was signed by Edel Records. In 2009, he tried out for American Idol, making it to the top 24 contestants. Jermaine has sung background for Monica and Kelly Rowland and is currently working on his debut album. 

In the play, Jermaine plays the understudy. Jermaine and JD have always butted heads, and tensions rise when he is cast as the understudy for Ginuwine. The question is … how far will he go to get his time in the spotlight?
