Jennifer Lopez Got Demi Lovato's Memo: She's Wearing Chaps

Jennifer Lopez knows how to put on a show. But, if anything could upstage the pop icon, it's the most glittery pair of chaps the world has ever seen. Still, the star dared to wear just such an ensemble at her January 20 performance at the Calibash event in Los Angeles. And — spoiler alert! — the overall effect was not something we'll soon forget. 

Lopez also wore a skintight, red-and-black bodysuit, and a pair of fishnet tights. She let her locks hang loose (presumably for maximum wind-machine effect) and belted out hits as she strutted the stage in the aforementioned chaps. Clearly, the 48-year-old was aiming to make a splash with this look — wouldn't you say? 

That's right, soak in the applause, J.Lo! 

Of course, Lopez isn't the only pop star to get cheeky in chaps lately. Last month, Demi Lovato turned heads at the 2017 Jingle Ball wearing denim chaps and a fierce air of confidence. Remember this look? 

While it's fun to speculate that the two pop stars are trading texts re: chaps — Hey, Demi: Sparkling or denim tonight? You tell me!; Hey, J.Lo! You can totally pull off either, girl! — this isn't the first time we've spotted the Jenny From the Block singer in the daring style. 

Back in 2016, Lopez put her love for chaps on full display by wearing a $4,000 denim iteration in her "Ain't Your Mama" video. And, may we never forget chaps' other iconic appearance in pop music: Christina Aguilera got downright Dirrty in them in her 2002 video.
