Hannah Berner Shares an Update on Her Marriage to Des Bishop

Hannah Berner admits that getting married had a “weird” effect on her day-to-day life. But don’t worry — she meant “weird” in a good way.

During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, the Summer House alum opened up about her relationship with Des Bishop, a fellow comedian she married in spring 2022. Hannah told the outlet her husband is “really supportive” of her stand-up comedy/podcasting career, which requires her to constantly travel. But despite her increasingly busy work schedule, Hannah said her life has generally become much calmer over the past year, thanks, in large part, to her relationship with Des.

Hannah Berner says marriage has made her life less “crazy”

“I feel like since getting married there’s been a weird calmness because life was crazy,” she explained. “And then we got married and we’ve been really working a lot. I’m very grateful that I have someone who also knows a lot about the comedy space as a comedian.”

She continued: “As a career girlie, it’s, like, nice to just know that I have this partner in crime with me. And I don’t have to exchange energies with, like, too many weirdos anymore.”

Hannah Berner reveals what makes married life so much “fun”

The couple’s comedic spirits have apparently strengthened their bond and helped them approach life — and its problems — with a sense of humor. Hannah told the outlet that her and Des’ relationship is full of laughter, which has proved to keep them quite happy during their first year of marriage. 

“Overall, I think what makes our relationship fun is the laughter,” Hannah continued. “And we’re always trying to find, [like], ‘Where’s the joke? How can we take life a little less seriously?’ And as long as we’re laughing, we’re happy. So that’s my biggest advice definitely for marriage: ‘Don’t take it too seriously.’”

Hannah announced her relationship with Des in September 2020, during the premiere of Bravo’s Chat Room. The comedian confirmed she had started dating Des earlier that year, shortly before she began filming Summer House Season 5.

“I don’t know if you’ve heard, but in a real 2020 quarantine plot twist, I trapped a man, and I have a boyfriend,” she said. “He’s a comedian, and I had watched him like five years ago at a comedy club. And then he DM’d me recently and I was like, ‘Oh, that’s the funny, cute guy.’”

Hannah and Des got engaged on Valentine’s Day 2021 and tied the knot in May of last year. The couple celebrated their nuptials with a beachfront ceremony in the Hamptons, where they were joined by friends, family, and other Bravolebrities. Attendees included Summer House castmates Paige DeSorbo and Ciara Miller, as well as Southern Charm’s Craig Conover, Vanderpump Rules’ Scheana Shay, and Shahs of Sunset’s Mercedes “MJ” Javid.
