Lala Kent Slayed in a Floral Gown at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner
It’s safe to say the Vanderpump Rules cast member did Zac Posen proud.
The White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner took place the evening of Saturday, April 29, in Washington, D.C., where esteemed journalists and political leaders rubbed shoulders with actors, musicians, and, yes, a few Bravolebrities.
Shortly after Ariana Madix and Lisa Vanderpump confirmed they would attend this year’s event, their Vanderpump Rules castmate Lala Kent announced that she, too, would be joining as a guest of the Los Angeles Times. The podcast host and best-selling author shared the big news last week in a series of Instagram Story photos from a dress fitting at Albright Fashion Library.
The first shot showed Lala wearing a sleeveless white gown with a sleek high neck. She captioned the Story, “We’re headed to DC.” Lala then posted pictures of herself in a cream-colored sequined dress, a chic black design with a dramatic leg slit, and a bright blue mermaid gown with a sweetheart neckline.
“These were the ‘maybes’ for the White House Correspondents Dinner,” she wrote. “Honored to attend with the LA Times.”
Although every dress was stunning, Lala ultimately went with a spring-ready floral moment. The former SURver donned a multicolored strapless gown from Zac Posen’s spring 2013 runway collection. The piece featured a ruched bow detail at the waist and a tulle overlay that extended over the bodice. The mother of one finished the look with a sleek bun hairstyle, hoop earrings, nude-colored heels, and a navy clutch.
This year’s WHCAD went down at the Washington Hilton with featured entertainer Roy Wood Jr. of The Daily Show. Among the attendees were President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Rosario Dawson, Gayle King, Jerry O’Connell, and Julia Fox. The Real Housewives of Potomac’s Dr. Wendy Osefo also participated in the weekend festivities and snapped a photo with fellow Bravolebrities Lisa and Ariana.
Ariana confirmed her attendance earlier this week, saying the invitation was “an incredible honor” and marked a dream-come-true moment.
“I watch the dinner on TV every year and have always dreamed of being there in person,” Ariana told DailyMail.com. “My wonderful late grandmother was very active in local politics and I’ve always dreamed of visiting the White House, so this is an incredible honor.”
On the eve of Saturday’s dinner, Lala accompanied Ariana to the Creative Arts Agency’s WHCD Kickoff Party, where she wore a blue satin-crepe Alex Perry dress with a plunging V neckline, padded shoulders, and a front sash that fell to the hem. She showcased the design in an Instagram carousel captioned, “I say important sh*t. You say too much boring sh*t,” an iconic quote from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Erika Jayne.
