Dorinda Medley's Makeup Artist Reveals the Key to Her Season 12 Reunion Glow
Makeup artist Luke Henderson shares how he created the glam RHONY look.
Dorinda Medley's appearance on The Real Housewives of New York City Season 12 reunion was one we'll never forget for a couple of reasons: 1) As we've recently learned, the heated sit-down was the last reunion Dorinda will partake in as she recently announced her exit from the show. 2) Her reunion look was beyond glamorous.
Dorinda stunned at the reunion in a black and silver Balmain minidress with gorgeous hair and makeup to match. And lucky for us, we got all the details on how her glam look came together, straight from Dorinda's makeup artist, Luke Henderson.
The idea behind Dorinda's makeup was a simple, glow-y look with a bit of inspiration from a royal figure. "Dorinda's very inspired by Princess Diana’s makeup. So, I really thought about the eyeliners and the tones that Princess Diana used," Henderson shared. Henderson also opted for a color palette that would pair well with Dorinda's ensemble. Instead of using bronzy and peachy hues, which are a part of Dorinda's signature beauty look, he leaned toward gray and pink tones to complement the silver accents in her dress.
To create her base, Henderson used Beautyblender Bounce Liquid Whip Long Wear Foundation for even coverage that "doesn't end up cakey." Then, he defined her cheekbones with NARS Bronzing Powder in Laguna. The key to her radiant and dewy complexion came down to two key products: "I always use the MAC Studio Fix 24-Hour Smooth Wear Concealer, which stays nice and creamy and dewy under the eyes. And then on the actual cheekbones, I used Charlotte Tilbury Glowgasm Beauty Light Wand in Pinkgasm. I just dabbed that over the top of the cheekbones and then I buffed it in with a small brush," he explained.
While setting her makeup with MAC Blot Powder, Henderson purposely stayed away from her under eye area and cheekbones. "If you powder everywhere, you end up looking just like a caked canvas. But if you don’t powder under the eyes, the cheekbones, or anywhere you applied highlighter, you'll be able to see that nice, shimmery glow," he said.
For her eyes, Henderson used the Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Palette in The Rock Chick and then applied Kiss Blowout Lashes in Pompadour, which he topped with Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Push Up Lashes Mascara. He explained, "Because Dorinda has quite round eyes I used lashes that are longer on the ends to lengthen her eyes and give them more of an almond shape, which these do quite well."
To complete her look, he coated her lips with Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in Bitch Perfect for the perfect nude, pinky pout.
As for her hair, Henderson styled her blonde mane into a classic, side-swept Dorinda hairstyle, which perfectly topped off her look.
