Jennifer Aydin Reveals She's Experiencing Traction Hair Loss from Extensions & Ponytails
The Real Housewives of New Jersey mom turned to her plastic surgeon husband, who is treating her hair loss with PRP therapy.
Jennifer Aydin is keeping it extra real when it comes to her beauty routine as of late. The Real Housewives of New Jersey mom and wife of plastic surgeon Dr. Bill Aydin has been an open book about everything from her dramatic weight loss to how she looks minus makeup as she gears up for the RHONJ premiere. But in a recent Instagram story, Jennifer explains that behind the glam, she's been dealing with some pretty intense hair loss as she turned to her hubby for treatment.
Jennifer visited her husband's practice Aydin Plastic Surgery to receive PRP injections, or platelet-rich plasma therapy that uses the patient's own platelets to speed up healing in affected areas. "Getting my blood drawn. Doing a PRP today, folks," she says in her vid. "I've been noticing some hair loss and thinning hair. We're going to spin it and turn it into plasma and then they're going to insert the plasma back into my hairline." And if that doesn't sound painful enough, Jennifer also opted for a few other procedures (including fillers and botox) to get her right as rain by November 6.
She reveals that she noticed hair loss after wearing extensions and tight ponytails last season, but that this second installment of the treatment is designed to help aid rejuvenation and growth. "Trying to get a little pick me up for what's happening in a few weeks. I don't know man, those extensions on my hair last season were brutal. And I took them out this summer and my hair's actually getting back to the thickness that it was, which is great but I need a little extra help."
Of course, traction hair loss and thinning strands is not a new concern for many of the Housewives. Just this year other Bravolebs like Porsha Williams and Monique Samuels revealed their struggles with thinning hair post partum.
"She's been losing some of her hair from traction injury which is basically from blow drying or ponytails," explains Dr. Aydin. "The plasma has growth factors and going to stimulate your growth."
Jennifer continued covering her session on Instagram Live where followers could see Dr. Aydin apply the plasma to specific areas around her head. "I've notice the most hair loss around my crown, the area that frames my face. This is the second injection three months from the last one and my hair has been getting so much better. I've been taking biotin vitamins too for thinning hair and hair loss."
Ouch, but hey...they say beauty is pain.
