In Her Final Days, Barbara Bush Still Sipped Bourbon and Made Great Conversation
Former FLOTUS Barbara Bush passed away peacefully, ever on her own terms.
Barbara Bush, former first lady of the United States, passed away on April 17 at the age of 92. After a series of recent hospitalizations, the matriarch of the Republican party had decided to halt any farther treatments and opt for in-home comfort care. And in her final days, Bush had her favorite people — and her favorite drink — nearby.
Bush was reportedly answering phone calls and sending her own emails for the past several days. And, according to a tweet from CBS reporter Katie Watson, the former first lady was said to be alert, holding conversations, and sipping on bourbon the night before she passed away.
May we all raise a glass to a life richly lived.
