Kyle Cooke Details His Emotional Reaction to Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney's Split

Season 2 of Winter House is gearing up to be quite the wild ride, but for one of the show's special guests, the Vermont getaway turned out to be a much-needed safe haven.

Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula revealed as much during a recent episode of Page Six’s "Virtual Reali-Tea" podcast, with Kyle explaining that Vanderpump Rules' Tom Schwartz had said he and Tom Sandoval needed "an escape."

Schwartz didn't provide a reason, but Amanda said they assumed it had to do with his marriage to Katie Maloney (they'd go on to announce their divorce within a matter of weeks). "I think there were some rumors swirling at the time, but they wanted to come and just hang out, like, two buddies escaping, coming over to the East Coast," she recalled. "And we just wanted to show them a good time. And that’s what we focused on with them. We didn’t even know what was going on. We just knew that they wanted to have fun. We know how to do that."

Based on the Winter House Season 2 trailer, they did exactly that. Then filming wrapped. "I don’t think we found out until we got back to New York," Kyle said. "That’s when they both posted."

He continued, "I actually, the only way I knew how to handle it…I texted them both on the same thread. I was like, 'I don’t know how else I would do this. I love both of you.'"

Reaching out didn't provide Kyle much comfort, though. On the podcast, he revealed he "immediately cried" upon first hearing the news. "I was, like, bawling my eyes out," he said. "I was like, 'Oh my god.'"
