Katie Maloney-Schwartz Files for Divorce from Tom Schwartz
The Vanderpump Rules couple first announced their split on March 15, one week before she filed.
Katie Maloney-Schwartz has filed for divorce from Tom Schwartz one week after the Vanderpump Rules couple confirmed their separation.
According to multiple reports, Katie officially filed for divorce at the Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday, March 22; TMZ first reported the news.
The filing comes just days after they were spotted out together last weekend and they each shared the outing to their Instagram Stories.
Katie and Tom shared the news of their breakup after 12 years together in separate Instagram statements on March 15. The couple married in 2016, and their wedding was featured in Season 5 of Vanderpump Rules. They later tied the knot again in Las Vegas a few years later, and that wedding was also featured on the show in Season 8.
In a statement posted last week, Katie addressed the split. "I never thought I would have to make an announcement like this. But I feel it's important that I'm open about my life with you. After 12 years on an adventure through life together Tom and I are ending our marriage. This ending is not met with resentment or animosity, no sides to choose. We have deep admiration for one another that will always remain and we cherish our friendship," she wrote. "Although we may be on different paths we will continue to love and support one another's happiness. Thank you for all the kind words and support."
Tom also shared a statement on the same day. "Well this sucks. How am I supposed to capture 12 years of love in a f---in canned Instagram caption... Wanted to clear the air on some rumors floating around. Katie [and] I are separating. I'm not quite ready to use the 'D' word [because] it's too painful. Yes my heart aches but I'll be ok," he wrote, in part. "Fully respect Katie's decision and we've had healthy, productive conversations about it. It would be far sadder if she decided to stay with me whilst not happy."
Since sharing that they were splitting up, Katie has opened up about the decision to end the relationship on her You’re Going to Love Me podcast and later to fans in her Instagram Stories.
