SWV's Tamara "Taj" Johnson-George Says "Survivor" Was Easy Compared to Working with XSCAPE
Despite a grueling 30+ days on Survivor: Tocantins, SWV's Tamara "Taj" Johnson-George said she'd rather be on the reality competition again than do another show with XSCAPE.
The road to putting together a collaboration concert was was full of drama and fights on SWV & XSCAPE: The Queens of R&B — both between the girl groups, and amongst their own group members. It was so bad at times, SWV’s Tamara “Taj” Johnson-George said being a castmate on Survivor was easy compared to working with XSCAPE.
“I’d rather do Survivor than do a Season 2 [with XSCAPE],” Taj told The Daily Dish.
Taj came in fourth place, nearly making it to the final tribal council, when she was a contestant on Survivor: Tocantins back in 2009. She called Survivor “real” and a “true reality television show.”
“You go out there and they literally drop you off with absolutely nothing and tell you to make it to the end,” Taj told The Daily Dish. “Then you have people who are literally, their lives depend on this because they’re trying to get that million dollars, so if that means stabbing you in the back and eating your food before you can eat it, so be it. Good thing for me, I went out there with a goal to lose weight, so I was giving my food away. They loved me.”
While describing the issues the two groups had, Taj said her initial concern was with XSCAPE’s Scott sisters, Tamika Scott and LaTocha Scott-Bivens, and their feud.
“At that point, I knew that they weren’t really getting along,” Taj told The Daily Dish. “In my mind, I’m like, here’s a chance for them to sit down, we can all discuss music, and maybe that’ll click something that will make them start to warm up to each other, but that didn’t happen.”

Taj said the girls only got a little talking done during their initial meeting before it all went left.
“We were supposed to come together to discuss some ideas about doing this never-before-done performance between two hot girl groups from the '90s that still look great, still are doing it strong,” Taj said. “It went left, as does every meeting with them seem to go.”
