Craig Conover Weighs in on the Taylor, Austen, Olivia, and Shep Drama
The Southern Charm cast member reacted to Austen and Taylor's kiss: "We really didn't see this coming."
There's a lot of drama brewing in Charleston on Southern Charm Season 9 thanks to a very complicated love dynamic — and Craig Conover has largely been staying out of it.
In case you need a refresher, following her break-up from Shep Rose, Taylor Ann Green considered a potential romance with Austen Kroll (who had just split from her best friend, Olivia Flowers). The pair shared a secret kiss before deciding to just remain friends.
However, after keeping the news of the kiss to themselves for quite some time, Austen came clean to Shep on Season 9, Episode 5.
Shep quickly forgave Austen for the kiss, but what did Craig have to say about how his best friends handled the situation? Find out what he revealed during the October 19 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen below.
Craig Conover weighs in on Austen Kroll and Taylor Ann Green's kiss
During his time on WWHL, Craig revealed why he really thinks that Austen and Taylor kept the kiss news from Shep and Olivia for so long.
"Because they thought they were going to get away with it," he said. "I really think that they thought they were going to pull this off."
Later on in the episode, while discussing his "pet peeves" regarding his castmates, Craig referred to Austen as "the most self-destructive person [he's] ever met."
However, Craig noted that Austen is working on himself.
"To his credit, he's been seeing the therapist for a while now. He doesn't want to be like he is, I swear," he added. "I mean he continues to shoot himself in the foot, but he doesn't want to be like that."
Craig Conover shares an update on his friendship with Shep Rose
During the same game, Craig shared that he feels like he has to "cover for [Shep] more than anyone in [his] entire life."
"Not that he asks me to," he clarified. "But I have to."
Though Shep quickly forgave both Austen and Taylor, Craig teased that Shep will go through many emotions regarding the kiss as Season 9 progresses.
"I just have never seen Shep as shocked as he was," Craig said, before revealing that they were all surprised to find out about the kiss. "I mean, we really didn't see this coming, and so you'll get to see this season that he really can't figure out how to handle it."
Craig explained that he believes that Shep needs "to talk through his feelings."
"You'll see that kind of progress throughout the season," he continued. "Because it's very hard for him to admit what actually happened between Austen and Taylor."
