Dorit Kemsley Reveals How She Is Coping Today Following Her Home Invasion
The RHOBH cast member opened up about her life today after the 2021 break-in at her home.
Season 12 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills has followed Dorit Kemsley in the wake of a home invasion that took place in 2021. Dorit first opened up about the break-in during the season premiere, and fans have been following her journey as she recovers from the event.
When she appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on June 22, she shared if there were any updates on the case. “They don’t really keep me abreast of what’s happening,” she said.
Dorit also commented on some of what fans have seen this season as she has been trying to navigate her emotions in the aftermath of the home invasion with the support of her friends and family.
Along the way, there have been times in the season when she has been affected by certain moments that have felt uncomfortable to her, including having differing reactions to the press’ presence at two events.
She noted on WWHL that while she had been given notice that the press would be at Kyle Richards’ event this season before she arrived, that was not the case for Sutton Stracke’s event later in the season.
She said, “I wasn’t aware that there was going to be press or a press line at Sutton’s, and I was going through post-traumatic stress disorder. When you are taken by surprise in what I went through, and then you’re taken by surprise like that, it triggers you. So I was aware [at Kyle’s event] and I agreed to it, so it was very different. I wasn’t ready to talk about that, the whole thing. At least if I had gotten a heads-up, but I wasn’t prepared.”
As the season of RHOBH has aired, Dorit has opened up about the kind of help she got in the wake of the incident (clip below), and on WWHL this week, she shared where she stands in her emotional recovery today.
“I have good days, and I have really, really bad days,” she said. “I’ve been officially diagnosed with PTSD, and it’s just a process. I’m doing what I have to do and I’m doing it for my family, for my kids. And I’ll continue to do what I need to do and speak to who I need to speak to.”
