Riley Burruss Knows Exactly What She Wants to Accomplish in the Music Industry
The Real Housewives of Atlanta kid has her sights set on *this* particular goal.
Riley Burruss has made it clear that she’s eager to follow in the musical footsteps of her mother, The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member and Xscape songstress Kandi Burruss Tucker — but not without carving her own niche.
She revealed as much in a recent interview on The Sharpton Sisters. “Since [Kandi] was in the music industry, ever since I was younger, I knew I wanted to do something related to the music industry… and I don’t think I would’ve known that without her,” Riley said. “Seeing my mom in the studio, collaborating with other artists… I really like R&B and hip-hop, but I want to focus on Atlanta music.”
Getting even more specific, she continued, “And of course, Atlanta’s always going to be at the top in the music industry, but I just want to focus on bringing it to the ‘top-top,’ kind of like the early 2000s vibe.”
In particular, Riley “really want[s] to work on AR and developing more artists coming from Atlanta,” she explained.
In the meantime, she’s already making strides in New York City, where she’s currently attending NYU and interning at a record label.
That’s not to say Riley doesn’t spend her fair share of time down South, though. Just last month, she took to Instagram to share a photo of herself sitting behind a mixing board at an Atlanta recording studio, captioned, “Don’t play wit it.” Her followers couldn’t help but speculate about a potential project or collaboration.
Fellow kids of Bravolebrities even joined in on the theorizing, including The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’s Brooks Marks. “Drop the album,” Meredith Marks’ son commented on Riley’s post, to which she responded, “It’s [on the way].”
Ultimately, regardless of the route Riley takes in the music industry, there’s no doubt that her mom will be by her side through her career — something she told the Sharpton sisters she’s extremely grateful for. “The biggest thing that is helpful is obviously the connections she’s made and the experiences she can tell me,” Riley shared. “I can learn so much from her, and I just love being able to call her and give me the whole run down.”
