Nene Leakes' Husband Gregg Leakes Has Completed Chemotherapy After 6 Months of Treatment
The Real Housewives of Atlanta's Gregg Leakes had been seeking treatment for his stage 3 colon cancer diagnosis.
Nene Leakes' husband, Gregg Leakes, has officially completed chemotherapy, The Real Housewives of Atlanta boutique owner revealed on Instagram on Wednesday, April 3.
In the penultimate episode of this season of RHOA, Gregg decided to undergo chemotherapy to treat his colon cancer diagnosis after months of leaning toward not seeking treatment. He ended up undergoing six months of chemotherapy, which finally came to an end on April 3. "TODAY my husband @greggleakes has completed 6 months of chemotherapy!" Nene shared on Instagram. "Awesome job hunni! I’m so happy for you and the strength you showed during this difficult time in your life!"
Nene's Instagram post featured a video and photo of Gregg banging a gong after completing his last chemotherapy session, which was followed by applause from his wife and the hospital staff. In another video included in the post, Gregg can be seen getting emotional while hugging all of the hospital staff after receiving his treatment.
Nene also showed her gratitude for all of the support she and Gregg have received during this difficult time in the Instagram post. "PS: Thank you to all of our family, friends, fans, doctors and nurses who lifted us up in constant prayer, sent recipes, doctors info, gave advice and gifts! We love you," she wrote. "PSS: what a relief! We finally get to share with the world what [we've] been going [through]."
The RHOA couple are coming up on the one-year anniversary of the beginning of Gregg's cancer battle in May. "It’s been a long emotional ride for our entire family!" Nene shared on Instagram.
After Gregg was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer last year, he underwent surgery and used alternative medicine to treat his illness before ultimately turning to chemotherapy. "I always tell him whatever decision you make, I'm going to support it because this is his life and it's such a big deal," Nene told The Daily Dish in November, which you can view, above. "I don't want to tell him to do something and then I'm wrong and it ends up not helping. So I want him to make his own decision and I support it. So, he's made all of his decisions himself and I'm just there to support him."
As Gregg neared the end of his chemotherapy, he shared an update on his health journey while calling into the Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen After Show at the beginning of March. "I'm doing great!" he said. "I feel great. I feel wonderful. I'm blessed everyday. You know, I never had cancer before so every day is like a new experience to me."
