The Real Housewives of Orange County alum shared a throwback photo of Matt during his time as pitcher for the Oakland Athletics. Matt played for the team from 1977 to 1983. He was an American League All-Star in his rookie 1978 season and won American League Comeback Player of the Year in 1980. Matt also spent time on the New York Yankees (1983), St. Louis Cardinals (1985), Chicago Cubs (1986), and the Houston Astros (1986).

Jeana and Matt wed in 1984 and have three children together: son Shane, 33, Kara, 31, and Colton, 28. The RHOC couple separated in 2004. However, Jeana hadn't signed the divorce papers until 2019, she announced at BravoCon last fall.

Kara and Shane remembered their dad with tributes on Instagram over the weekend. Shane also shared another one of his favorite memories of his father on Instagram on May 4. The photo shows Matt during his work with the A's in more recent years. He served in a variety of on-field and front office roles for the team after retiring from professional baseball. "Keep smiling and helping others become better versions of themselves," Shane said of his late father in the caption to the photo on Instagram. "Take it easy pops."

The A's also shared their condolences to the Keough family in a statement to MLB.com, as well as on their official Twitter account. “Matt was a great baseball man and a proud Oakland A,” said A’s Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations Billy Beane. “He had an incredible passion for the game and we were lucky to have him and his wealth of knowledge alongside us for the years he worked as a Special Assistant. He left an unforgettable impression on everyone he touched in baseball. Our sincere condolences are with the entire Keough family tonight.”
