James Van Der Beek's Secret to Playing Celeb DJ Diplo? Nudity
He's also faux beefing with a major restaurant chain while method acting.
James Van Der Beek has a wild new role playing Diplo, the celebrity DJ and producer who has made beats for one-named pop stars like Beyoncé and Madonna and been romantically linked to famous ladies whose names start with K, like Katy Perry and Kate Hudson. After admitting on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen that an old lady caught him running naked at the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles while filming What Would Diplo Do?, James told Andy Cohen that Diplo has become his friend IRL since signing on to the project.
"Yeah, I mean I’ve hung out with him, I’m playing him on TV, a version of him," James shared. "Yeah, we’re not bud — like, I didnt know him before the show."
Andy asked James if Diplo has taught him anything about mastering the wheels of steel. "He taught me a little bit, how to DJ," James said. "I know just enough to be annoying to real DJs."
