Fergie Exhibited Some Truly Bizarre Behavior at the TrevorLIVE Gala in Los Angeles

It's been an emotional year for Fergie. In September, the "Fergalicious" singer revealed that she was splitting from longtime husband Josh Duhamel. And while the announcement certainly broke our hearts (love is dead, etc.), the star seemed to be doing just fine in the aftermath of the breakup. Well, until she exhibited some head-scratching behavior at the TrevorLIVE Gala at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on December 3. 

Here's what went down at the gala, which benefits the Trevor Project. The nonprofit works to prevent suicide among LGBTQ youth, and Tom Ford — who is an avid supporter of the charity — was one of the evening's honorees. The designer and director sat at a star-studded table, where his tablemates included Isla Fisher, Armie Hammer, and the "Clumsy" singer herself. Eyewitnesses reported that the whole table seemed to be in fine spirits. So far, so good, right? 

Well, sorry to say: things got a little awkward. (And no, nobody spilled red wine on a celebrity's Tom Ford dress.) When Hammer went onstage to present an award to Ford, he was joined — rather unexpectedly — by Fergie. The singer reportedly interrupted Hammer's speech to make jokes that left the audience slightly confused. Here are part of her remarks: 

"I'm not Fergie; I am actually Armie Hammer ... I am going to win at the Academy Awards ... So, this is unexpected, and in typical Tom Ford style, I think he would love that — if he was here ... But, uh, Tom Ford is here. He's here on this bag. He's here on this amazing T-shirt, mock-style, long-sleeve shirt and fabulous skirt and pumps. But, he's also here as a person. And the thing is, behind all the Tom Ford life, which I thrive to get — I was really embarrassed that I didn't have Tom Ford makeup in my bag, by the way; so shaming — he is a person of compassion." 

Fergie's speech was reportedly littered with pauses, and it ended with the singer belting out a few bars of her new song: "A Little Work." Curious, indeed! But, the antics didn't stop there. Later in the evening, singer Shoshana Bean had to leave the stage during her performance while some technical issues were addressed. And, guess who (unexpectedly) stepped up to entertain the crowd during the lull? 

For her second onstage appearance, Fergie allegedly reprised her singing of "A Little Work," and then made yet another impromptu speech. "Give it up for Tom Ford! Trevor Project! This project. I wasn't even planned to speak tonight, but I guess I can't stand it when everyone else is up here singing," Fergie confided. 

The singer's rep has since put out a statement: "“[Fergie's speeches were] a gag that everyone at the table came up with that fell flat due to timing." The rep added that Fergie is: "happy and healthy." We're glad to hear it. And, for the record, we'd be happy to witness an impromptu performance from Fergalicious anytime.
