Captain Sandy Yawn Says Anastasia Surmava Was Being "Lazy" in This Below Deck Med Moment
The Below Deck Mediterranean boss also calls out Travis Michalzik for his bad attitude.
Many a fight has broken out over who's going to take out the garbage, and the Sirocco crew members are no strangers to this conflict. In the latest episode of Below Deck Mediterranean, deckhand Travis Michalzik expressed some frustration over having to put his deck duties on hold to take out the trash at the request of third stew Anastasia Surmava.
Captain Sandy Yawn wasn't pleased with what she perceived to be an attitude from Travis during the episode, and she's still not a fan of how he handled the situation today. "You never talk to me like that," Captain Sandy said during the Below Deck Mediterranean Season 4 After Show (clip above). "That pisses me off. That's not gonna happen."
Being the lovely leader that she is, Captain Sandy offered up an alternative for how Travis could have reacted in the moment. "If you're that exhausted or you feel like you're not being led correctly, that's when you go, 'You know what, I just need a break.' I don't see everything," she explained. "And I would say, 'Well, let him rest. Have her take out the garbage.'"
Even though Captain Sandy ultimately stepped in to give Travis an order to take out the garbage after Anastasia asked him several times in the episode, she doesn't think it would have been a bad idea for the third stew to just do it herself, either. "In that particular case, she didn't have a lot going on. She could have carried that bag to the bow and washed her hands," she said. "A lot of times with interior, it's just so easy to call on the guys to take the trash out. Anastasia could have taken her garbage out. That's where she was lazy."
Captain Sandy has spoken!
The Below Deck Med boss will have some stern words for another crew member, Hannah Ferrier, in the next episode coming up on Monday at 9/8c. Watch a preview, below.
