Colin MacRae Has Made a Major Lifestyle Change Since Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 2
"For me, this is huge, and I’m proud of myself," Parsifal III's chief engineer said.
Colin MacRae recently shared some news about his life since filming Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 2. The chief engineer revealed that he had decided to quit smoking following that charter season in Croatia.
Colin opened up about why he decided to stop smoking as he marked five months without a cigarette in a post on Instagram on June 2. "Yesterday marked 5 months absolutely smoke free for me, after smoking for 19 years. I made a New Years resolution this year to quit and be a better role model for kids, after seeing the disappointment of one of our fans walking down the road with their child, seeing me smoking," Colin explained. "It was as though in one moment, all respect for me had been lost, and I understood why."
He went on to say that he purposely doesn't show anyone smoking in the videos on his YouTube channel, Sailing Parlay Revival, but he admitted that seeing himself smoking this season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht felt "more than a little shameful." "But anyway, the important thing is that I have made the change after being a 'pack a day' smoker for so long, and no longer feel the need to put that s--t into my body," Colin said. "For me, this is huge, and I’m proud of myself."
Colin ended his post by encouraging others hoping to quit smoking to stay motivated to achieve this goal. "Had my first cigarette at 11, was smoking habitually by 16, and I’m turning 36 this year. If you’re out there tryna give up the darts, stick it out for a month, and it will just get easier and easier, as you start to see it for the filthy worthless habit that it is," he shared. "I promise."
The chief engineer received lots of love and support in the comments section of his Instagram post, including from Dani Soares, Colin Macy-O'Toole, and Hannah Ferrier, who has also been open about her decision to quit smoking. "Awesome!!!! Congrats. It’s been 14 months for me as well!!!!" the Below Deck Mediterranean alum wrote.
Colin has gone through a lot since this season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht. He confirmed on Instagram in April that he and his girlfriend, Martina, who were together during the charter season, had decided to split up.
In addition, after Colin's dog, Marty, had passed away while he was on Parsifal III this season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht, he rescued a new puppy named Lindo in March. Since then, Colin has kept his Instagram followers up to date on all of Lindo's latest adorable adventures.
