Austen Kroll Shares All the Details on His "Bachelor-ish" New House: "I Love It"

In June 2021, Austen Kroll announced he had purchased a very special "birthday present" for himself: a beautiful house in Charleston. As the Southern Charm cast member told BravoTV.com last month, he "immediately" knew the home was the perfect choice for him. 

"I am like an impulse shopper. I don’t like to go in and shop around and try on a bunch of things. It was kind of the same thing with my house," Austen said. The home, built in 2016, was "basically like a turn-key property," he added. "It had all of the appliances in there."

Because the house is located in what Austen described as "a developing area in Charleston," he noted, "I got it for a hell of a price, and I love it... If you put that house in a different area in Charleston, I mean, it would easily be double or triple the price."

The house has three bathrooms, four bedrooms (one of which is being used as Austen's office), a "very open" first floor, and another detail Austen is particularly excited about: "I’m a relatively tall guy, [so] I really love the 10-foot ceilings."

For more than a year, Austen has been hard at work decorating the abode. "I’ve made so much progress with like, you know, a light fixture here, a chandelier here," he said. "[But] I ordered a couch in October, and we’re talking in July, and it’s not here yet. That is so infuriating. It feels like my living room is not complete yet." Although according to recent Instagram Stories, the couch has since arrived, Austen now has other areas to focus on. "My third bedroom upstairs I haven’t completed yet either," he said. "So there are just things that I’m excited to get going. But I painted it, and I did some fun things here and there. It’s moving along slowly, but I haven’t gotten a chance to dedicate a full amount of time to completing my house."

With his current furniture and decor choices, Austen admitted the home is "very Bachelor-ish. Let’s just say if I had a wife in the house, or someone in the house that was living with me, [they] would probably be like, 'We’re gonna switch up some of this stuff here.'" The feel of the house, he said, strikes a balance between "trying to be sophisticated" and "still having fun." Part of that fun includes "a three-and-a-half foot tall fridge that’s full of Trop Hop" in the entryway.

"So when you come in and it’s like, 'Do you have something to drink?' It’s like, “How much Trop Hop can you drink until you pass out?'" he joked. "So it’s always there. Just open it and grab a Trop Hop, if you so please. I guess that’s the vibe of my house."

With a laugh, he added, "I might bring in a kegerator at some point. Who’s to say?"
