See Every Breathtaking Look Christian Siriano Designed at the 2022 Academy Awards
The Project Runway designer was responsible for some of the most memorable red-carpet looks at the 2022 Oscars.
Christian Siriano is behind some of the most talked-about looks in Oscars history (remember Billy Porter's remarkable tuxedo gown?). So, when the 94th Academy Awards rolled around on March 27, of course we had our eyes glued to the red carpet to see everything the Bravo's Project Runway mentor crafted at the 2022 spectacular.
There was so much to take in: Christian was responsible multiple jaw-dropping looks both at the televised awards show and the after parties. As the night progressed, the designer took to Instagram to reflect on the moment. "Just to be a young American designer on this carpet going against huge European brands, [it's] just so wonderful and we feel very honored," he shared.
For Rosie Perez's first Oscars appearance in over two decades, the actress turned to Christian for a look the designer called "just divine:" a custom red silk crepe and chiffon draped gown. Perez later changed into a custom tuxedo with a cropped blazer, floor-skimming wide-leg pants, and a sheer, corset bodice. "This icon was a dream to dress," Christian gushed on Instagram.
Wanda Sykes, who co-hosted the affair, wore two of the designer's suits throughout the night: a custom white silk crepe and satin draped tuxedo and a custom black lace set. Janelle Monáe brought the heat in an ultra cut-out ankle-length column, and Jean Smart gave what Christian called "glamour witch vibes" in a black ruffled number. A black velvet gathered gown with a keyhole cut-out and sparkling embellishments suited Remi Bader.
