A Bravo Alum Designed Cardi B's Pregnancy Reveal Dress
The rapper shared the big news during her appearance on Saturday Night Live, and needed a dress to fit the momentous occasion.
For months, pregnancy rumors have swirled around Cardi B, and — apart from one epic statement that she was not expecting a baby and just wanted to "fat in piece" — the rapper has remained mostly mum about the scuttlebutt. But on April 7, the budding fashion star was ready to come clean.
During her appearance on Saturday Night Live, Cardi B confirmed that she does indeed have a baby on board — and she let a special dress do all the talking.
During a performance of her song "Be Careful," the singer wore a curve-clinging white dress with a high neck and sheer sleeves. As the song began, the camera offered a tight shot of Cardi B's face, then slowly panned out to reveal ... wait for it ... the bump! (Cue cheers from the audience.)
It's not just any designer who can create something special enough for such an event, so it's a good thing the rapper enlisted Project Runway alum Christian Siriano for the job. After the big reveal was made, the designer posted a photo from his fitting with Cardi B on Instagram.
"Fittings with Cardi B are the best," Christian captioned the snap.
The rapper's stylist, Kollin Carter, also posted a photo of the dress. "Congrats my love! We are free! Lol We don’t have to hide anymore! No more tutus and ruffles," he wrote. And while we're always down for tutus, we can't wait to see Cardi B's maternity style play out.
