Mic Drop! We Found the Prettiest, Most Comfortable Shoe for Summer
Here's the sandal you'll be wearing all day, every day this summer.
Over here at Most Wanted, there are a few brands that have our utter and complete devotion. Italian shoe maker M. Gemi is one of them. Named after founder Maria Gangemi, the company churns out luxury footwear that epitomize the craftsmanship and artistry Italy is known for. But while lots of shoes are beautiful to look at, not all are comfortable to wear, too. And we’re not just talking “walkable” level of comfort. We’re talking wear-all-day comfort — from a trip to the farmer’s market at 9 a.m. to brunch at 11 a.m., to a walk through the park in the afternoon and happy hour in the early evening. All. Day. Long.
But don’t mistake M. Gemi for being old-fashioned. Available directly to consumers via an online store, the brand drops a new shoe each and every Monday, and has developed a cult following by doing so. Why? The aforementioned comfort and the fact that the shoes are priced way, WAY below what is standard for quality luxury footwear.
So you can imagine out delight when we heard M. Gemi was launching its first-ever collaboration with beauty blogger and influencer Marianna Hewitt (yes, the woman behind the Summer Fridays Jet Lag mask that went viral a couple of months ago!). Known for her polished style, her ethereal skin and her globe-trotting adventures, Hewitt told us the partnership was a natural fit from the beginning. “I have been a fan of M. Gemi since finding them on Facebook last year,” she explained, adding this is her first time working with a fashion brand. “After I found their shoes, I was obsessed and every week came back to purchase new styles. I was amazed that I could find quality Italian made shoes at a great price — and best of all they were so comfortable.”
Together Gangemi and Hewitt created The Capri, a suede, dual strap summer slide with a barely-there block heel. Available today in three colorblocked hues (one purple-ish, one beige-ish and one in a warm summer palette), the shoe is meant to flatter all skin tones and to be dressed up or down with ease. When we asked Hewitt what was most important to her when designing this shoe, she said: “Colors that could go with any outfit from day to night, comfort and to elongate your legs.” Check, check, and check! “I'm petite and many sandals make me look as short as I am, so I'm always looking for styles and colors that make me appear taller than I am,” continued Hewitt. “Comfort is a top priority to me. These shoes I have literally walked miles in. I can wear them forever and they look so chic.”
