Rihanna Just Convinced Us That Periwinkle Lipstick Is the Hottest New Beauty Trend
If anyone can make blue lips a thing, it's RiRi.
Rihanna doesn't play it safe when it comes to beauty. That's one of the many reasons why we heart her — and why we're inspired to take risks in our own makeup and hair routine. Though we're still working up the courage to try blue mermaid hair, we are dangerously tempted to get a dose of RiRi's beauty boldness by testing out a bright blue lipstick in 2018. Or, OK — maybe on the Tuesday after Christmas. Don't judge.
After teasing a December 26 launch of Fenty Beauty matte lipsticks, the style star has leaked more details on the upcoming Mattemoiselle Plush Matte Lipstick Collection. (Can you handle that name?) According to a press release, the line will comprise 14 colors ranging from the classics — think red and nude — to dark green, navy, lilac, and periwinkle. The colors will also be in slim tubes, so they're easy to apply.
But wait, quick question: can we seriously pull off periwinkle lips? Even though we don't own thigh-high denim stiletto boots? Rihanna's statement in the Fenty Beauty press release gave us strength: "Lipstick is all about having fun and expressing your mood at any given moment,” the style star said. "This collection makes it easier than ever because there’s a color for everyone.”
That's it! "Lipsitck is all about having fun" is our beauty motto for 2018. And, while we wait to get our paws on the new Fenty Beauty lipsticks, we may even play around with a couple fashion items in Smurf-like hues. After all, we'll need a few pieces to match with our December 26 Fenty Beauty haul.
