Once Again, the Internet Is Not Having It When Jessica Simpson Bonds With Her Daughter
A makeup-filled mommy-daughter date caused quite the controversy.
Jessica Simpson keeps it real on her Instagram, sharing everything from cute shoes to impromptu snaps of #momlife. Of course, since this is the Internet, folks are quick to share their opinions on parenting in the comments of Simpson's posts. Earlier this month, some commenters went into outrage mode over Simpson possibly dyeing her daughter's hair for a Halloween costume.
Simpson doesn't seem perturbed though, because she just posted an Instagram that was bound to make the same haters go wild: It's a pouty selfie with her daughter Maxwell at their favorite store, MAC, with Maxi wearing goth purple lipstick.
Some commenters clearly didn't think this photo was very cute. "Her favorite store?? OMG. She should be playing outside or learning about the world not sitting in a chair putting on make up at MAC. What's wrong with you," one said. Others called out MAC for its animal testing policies. Then, there were various variations on this comment: "She's to[o] young for make-up. Your going to regret it. Trust me."
But plenty of Simpson fans jumped to her defense, chalking it up to harmless fun. "People need to chill the eff out!! It's a mummy daughter day, most girls would have thought this was so fun. She's not doing anything wrong or illegal," one commenter wrote.
"I love that even though you knew how many people would be judging everything about this innocent mom/daughter photo of y’all playing with some make-up. You were still real enough to post it! Love your life mama," another said. One more commenter wrote: "I’m sure the trolls are gonna have a field day! You’re a good mommy to support her interests!"
After all, MAC definitely isn't all Maxwell is into:
