The Real Housewives of New York's Breakout Canine: Meet Luigi the Shih Tzu Car Collector
He will steal your heart and probably crash into your ankle.
The Real Housewives of New York has recently given us a true gift in the form of the wackiest ancillary characters this side of Allison Dubois: Enter Anisha Lakhani and her dog, Luigi. Anisha rolled onto the screen—nay, into our hearts!—with her canine companion Luigi and his remote-controlled Mercedes Benz, all under the guise of helping Tinsley Mortimer go somewhere… or do something? (Sorry Tins, we could literally not concentrate on anything besides the dog driving down the sidewalk in Manhattan. A. DOG. IN. A. REMOTE. CONTROLLED. BENZ.)
We desperately needed to know, who is he?
Anisha and Luigi are basically a Real Housewives dream team. Anisha is a kooky socialite and Luigi knows how to live like an OG Real Housewives cast member. Combined, they are more fun than throwing brown ice.
Anisha is known for being a former teacher and novelist, but her greatest work is that of a social media master and dog lover extraordinaire. It all started when she bought Luigi his first remote controlled car—a Beamer, natch—for his 5th birthday. The duo started turning heads 'round the neighborhood as soon as she chauffeured him down the street. Tourists and locals alike stopped them for pictures that began popping up all over Twitter. Luigi starting growing a large internet following and Anisha began creating truly amazing internet content we didn’t realize we needed. Like, wait, what's that Luigi is driving a taxi inside a human-size toy package, with three umbrellas while Starship’s Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now plays? Um, okay! Sign us up! We demand more!
Luigi has all the makings of a perfect Real Housewife. He has a posse of close-knit friends:
Enjoys luxurious beach vacations:
Dresses for success:
Has a fleet of luxury cars:
Knows the importance of a good glass of rosé:
Has been featured by The Post:
And like any good socialite, Luigi is also involved with philanthropy and is an active member of two groups that host parties to fundraise.
These two are exactly the kind joys that only Real Housewives can usher into our lives. The only problem? We need more. (Come on, can’t Luigi replace one of Carole Radziwill’s many pets named Baby?). In the meantime, there’s always instagram to tide us over.
