Kristen Bell Reveals the Vacation That Helped Her "Learn More" About Dax Shepard and Inspire Their Marriage
It's probably not the kind of trip you're picturing.
Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard have shared some truly epic vacations: Consider the African safari they took together before they had kids, which resulted in a viral vacation video for the ages.
But it turns out that it wasn't an exotic, far-flung adventure that most affected the couple's relationship. Rather, it was a simple trip back to her home state of Michigan with Dax and their two toddler daughters that made the biggest impact in a relationship that has been fraught at times, Bell says in the latest issue of Airbnbmag, currently on news stands, as reported in People.
"My husband and I really wanted our kids to experience some time on a Michigan lake like we did growing up,” she said. So last summer, the family rented a 15-bedroom house for a week, and passed leisurely time kayaking, playing ping-pong, and making s’mores.
On the trip, she wrote, "I learned more about my husband as we both shared stories about things we did growing up."
And that kind of togetherness is priceless, so the trip has solidified its place as a new family tradition.
She wrote, "We’ve decided to go home, at least for a week, to a Michigan lake every year.”
