Brock Davies Reveals His “Uphill Battle” at Home: “Not Every Day Is a Success”

Brock Davies knows the struggles of building a dream home.

It was nearly two months ago when the Vanderpump Rules dad and his wife, Scheana Shay, began renovating their newly purchased abode in the San Fernando Valley. Since then, Brock has shared regular updates on his DIY undertakings, including major upgrades to the outdoor space.

The former rugby player has refreshed the backyard landscaping, installed multiple walkways, and started constructing a large stone wall near the sidewalk. While Brock has made considerable progress on the latter project, he admitted it's been “a bit of a challenge.”

“So it was an uphill battle last night, yesterday, figuring out the best way to do the split-stone face [wall],” he said in a May 2 Instagram Story. “I kept breaking titles, kept doing a lot of stuff… Not every day is a success. Just gotta keep focusing on doing the right thing and get back on that horse and ride a cowboy. So giddy up, giddy up, baby.”

Brock also posted a video of him working on the street-facing wall with his daughter, Summer Moon, by his side. Although the concrete blocks looked pretty solid, Brock was clearly having trouble cutting the splitface stone panels that would cover the structure. But rather than accept defeat, the New Zealand native took a step back and returned to the drawing board.

“Tiles, today I hit a wall… trying to cut the split face tiles and make them fit is a bit of a challenge,” he wrote in the caption. “I kept breaking tiles, I kept cracking tiles, and this is the first time in this project that I had to sit down and contemplate the problem to try and solve it.”

He continued: “When it comes to construction, there is always a solution, and those skilled laborers who have done this before understand the solutions. So I’m just going to keep staring at this wall until I come up with a solution. Thanks for the support, I will get this done.”

But his home project struggles didn’t end there. Hours after posting the wall update, Brock revealed he had to make a run to the store to replace a tool that had been swiped from his yard.

“I just had to run down to Ace Hardware because some asshole decided to go for a walk, grab my drill, and keep walking,” he said in a Story. “So if I see you walking around with my drill, which I probably never will, I’ll headbutt ya… Get on with the project. Note to self: People are dicks.”

Scheana spoke about her family’s new digs in an April interview with The Daily Dish. She said the big move has been nothing short of “awesome,” especially now that she and Brock have more freedom to make changes to the property.

“My other house in Palm Springs is in an [Home Owners Association], so we can’t do anything without approval,” she explained. “Being a renter for so many years, you can’t change anything without approval. You have to change it back when you move. So, this is like, ‘Wait, we could just do whatever we want?’”
