Carrie Keagan Knows She "Dodged a Bullet" During Her Night Out with the Toms

Have you ever wanted to party with Bravolebs? Well our digital series, Bravo After Hours, offers viewers the opportunity to paint the town red with some of our very own as well as host and Everybody Curses, I Swear! author Carrie Keagan. So break out your best party gear and get ready to see what it's like when the Toms have a guys' night out in the City of Angels.

During episode 1 of Bravo After Hours, our host, Carrie Keagan, put on her best bro face and set out for a night of partying with Vanderpump Rules pals Tom Schwartz and Tom Sandoval. To say she was able to hang with those dudes might be an understatement, considering she rose to every occasion and challenge the guys threw at her — including getting a special and slightly-NSFW piece of ink. If you're wondering if the night was as crazy as it appeared in the episode, you'd be correct, as she explains to us, below.

Bravo After Hours: Episode one has you hanging out in LA with the Toms. How familiar with them were you before that night? Had you watched a lot of Vanderpump Rules? How did your perception of them change throughout the night?

Carrie Keagan: Of course! Everyone watches Vanderpump Rules!! The show can sometimes be a crazy cavalcade of chaos and drama which is addictive to watch, but I really enjoyed getting these guys to myself for a little chaos of my own. I’m not sure I knew what to expect, but I was definitely pleasantly surprised at what I found. These guys were cool as f***!

Bravo After Hours: We see you pre-gaming at Tom [Schwartz]’s apartment, do you pre-game when you go out usually? What is/has been your pre-game drink of choice?

Carrie: Oh yeah. To me the right pre-game is an essential part of a great night. When done right it’s as effective as a Zen ritual for the party hustler. You get your head in the right place, your mood in a sweet spot, and your spirit flying. Then you’re ready to take the night. I like getting ready while nursing a Jameson and listening to the song “Fatty Boom Boom” by Die Antwoord… such sweet serenity. It’s a tried and tested ritual for a memorable night. Truth be told, the pre-game determines the end-game.

Bravo After Hours: We know the tat isn’t real that you ended up getting, but what was the experience like of going and having someone else pick out the tat for you?

Carrie: Having some else pick out a tattoo for you is a lot like having a stranger buy you a drink. It’s either the beginning of an amazing bond between two people or it ends with you waking up the next morning in a strange a place wondering what the f*** happened to your life! And to be perfectly honest, in my mind, I hadn’t decided whether I would take the plunge or not til the last minute. I like to keep my options open. But I think I dodged a bullet on this one.

Bravo After Hours: Do you have any real tats?

Carrie: I don’t have any ink right now but I used to. I got a tattoo of a vampire bat just inside my hip bone when I was 16. It was my way of proving I had a dark side without having to go all out Goth. Over the years the ink started to blur so I had it removed. That part SUCKED! It hurt way worse than the tat itself. With the whole ink trend as big as it is right now, it’s kind of nice to have virgin skin again. But, if I ever do decide to get another one, it’s going to be a full back plate! Go big or go home!

Bravo After Hours: The conversation about the walk of shame is quite interesting [and] funny; that particular segment is fun. What was it like opening up about that aspect of party life?

Carrie: Hey, we’ve all been there and I have no regrets. That’s no way to live. In fact, embarrassing moments are some of my fondest memories. They make you feel alive. Plus, I don’t like calling it the “walk of shame” anymore. I am an adult now and it’s the “stride of pride!” If I see the sun come up, I know I have partied correctly. The last time that happened I stumbled out of the bar and straight onto a school bus full of kids… not my best moment but, definitely, not my worst!

Bravo After Hours: The bar you end up in has a lot of history for the crew. It must have been fun to hang in place that the guys have such an emotional attachment to.

Carrie: You know it totally was. There was a very tangible intimacy that came from them inviting me to share their sacred spot. It was like being invited into their secret tree house. Except the stories this tree house could tell would probably make tabloid blush. But, I’ll say there’s something special about the hallowed walls of a joint that has seen you f***ed up and turnt out only to rise again that drops your guard and keeps you real. It was very special. There are a couple of bars in New York, Leave Rochelle, Out of It, and Wise Men, that have been decorated by my heart and soul, if you know what I mean. I think everyone should have a Cheers; a bar they can walk into and feel like it’s an extension of their home or, at least, their cave. Where everybody knows your name and still lets you back in!
