Tom Colicchio Is Now Selling Pro-Quality Affordable Cookware Beginning at $59 (Yes, He Uses it Himself)
Bravo's Top Chef judge Tom Colicchio can't even believe the "value" behind the affordable Made In cookware line.
So you might not be a professional chef like Tom Colicchio — and you might not quite have scored that spot yet on Bravo's Top Chef (though you know you'd kill it). Still, you can cook like a pro in your home kitchen — and you won't even have to empty your kid's college fund to do it. Bravo's Top Chef head judge Colicchio is here to see to that.
He announced today that he's investing and partnering with the cookware company Made In, a direct-to-consumer brand that offers high-quality cookware without the inflated price.
When Colicchio first came across the company, launched last year by founders Jake Kalick and Chip Malt, he was “so impressed" with the product, and eager to work together, according to a news release.
"I've been approached by a ton of cookware brands over the years, but Made In truly stands out from the pack. Their mission to supply quality cookware at approachable prices is undeniably authentic, and they execute on every level," according to Colicchio, who is gearing up for Bravo's Top Chef Season 16 in Kentucky. (Meanwhile, get caught up on all the Top Chef action here.)
And he should know: He uses it, too! "I was so impressed with the cookware that I’ve stocked my home kitchen with it, and will be outfitting my upcoming New York restaurant with Made In products as well," he said. "It’s rare to find kitchen tools so well-suited for both professional and home applications."
Instead of hundreds of dollars per stainless pot or pan, Made In's prices begin at $59 for the eight-inch stainless fry pan, and just $15 for accessories — and range to $260 for a full three-piece set. The best-seller is a $69 10-inch frying pan you'd probably use every day literally forever — because all the products come with a lifetime guarantee.
Colicchio's own favorite piece is the $99 saucier, which is also one of Made In’s most popular: “I don’t think that there’s anything in the kitchen, besides a stove, that I couldn’t do without," he told People. "But that’s the one piece that I really like.”
According to People, Colicchio says the products are nothing less than you’d expect any pro would use: “This isn’t something where you’re paying less money and you’re compromising at all. In fact, you’re getting double the value of that you’re paying for.”
So shell out a few ducats on your pro tools... and get to practicing for that inevitable Top Chef spot you so richly deserve.
